Default Questions - help and oppinions

I'll pick up my new Audi S6 on Tuesday and I'm a bit nervous about it. Was is the wright car to buy? I've always driven BMW in the past, but currently there is no interesting BMW available (a part of the X5 and Z8 I already own). Before the S6 I own a M5, but because I've to drive quite a lot I was obligated to buy a car with automatic transmittion and 4x4 wheel drive... How good is an S6 and is there a tuning available.

Many thanks for your reply's

Cheers from Switzerland
Nico

Hi Nico, If you haven't figured this out by now, the S6 is without a doubt the best d**m sedan/wagon I've ever had the privledge of owning. While not up to par with the current M5 powerwise, I like it much, much better than the numerous other Beemers I've recently owned, including a '98 540 sport, a '99 540a w/ sport, a '99 540ia sportwagen, and most recently, an '00 X5 4.4. Once you get to know this cars capabilities, you'll love it to pieces. Just get some good snow tires for winter.
For myself, I got a set of OZ wheels in stock size w/Dunlop wintersports, in stock size, and I'm lowering mine another inch or so w/ KB coilovers, and putting a sportier exhaust on, and most likely Porsche brakes, but none of this chipping business, [bad for warranty you know]. Good luck, and post a pic!

Default The S6 is not as performant as the M5 on a straight line, however, when

it comes to handling in the dry, it is pretty much on par, specially if you adapt your driving style to take full advantage of the quattro for cornering.
With rain or snow the Quattro system is a joy. There the S6 will out class the M5 or any non quattro car.
The automatic gearbox does slowdown the S6, but since the manual is no longer available and you want an automatic, it still ranks in my books as one of the best auto box sport sedan/station wagons.
If you enjoy taut sports type cars, you will enjoy the S6.

If you want to read more about from a Swiss National who lives in South Africa go to the link below.

Andre's Audi S6 page

Default I think I'll be lowering mine as well. ABT has a suspension kit for the S6 which I'm considering,

the drop is 20mm (.79") and the promise of even better handling/cornering without loos of comfort!
Hmmm, we'll see.
If you find anything on exhausts, please let me know.

Ralph at "The Race Store" is sending me an S6-Av system, but do not know the actual brand as yet. It ran $1800 US. Will keep you posted on results very soon.

Default Heck, that's just 1 of 3 in stable that gets a lot of turnover :<)

Actually, the 4x4 truck rarely gets traded in, but the wifey's, [now ex], got trade pretty often too. I'm quite sure that I've found the "just right" car this time, and will keep it for a long time. Unless, of course, the RS6 ever becomes available here in the US. My pals all say, riiiiight, suuuuure! Must prove them wrong, must prove them wrong...
