Default Just a merry mix up. The continueing story of how I got (not yet) my exhaust thru the valance!

My original idea of changing the lower valance only is still alive! I take back my statement about the valance, for the moment , read on.

OK starts like this, bought the lower valance thru Clair-parts $103 (ordered for my 4.2 thru "Barry"}. Shipped by air from Germany. Removed the bumper completely. Cut the old valance off carefully at the paint line. Lined up the new Valance and WTF. Doesn't fit. Close but not going to be a clean job like I hoped.
Now I'm in trouble, order the rear bumper skin thru my local Audi dealer $378, and will need to be painted. (2 day express) Still trying to make that SF A6 meet.
Pick up the new bumper skin today, rush back home to check fit before painting and WTF. Doesn't fit. This is not even close!
Now remember I have cut the lower valance out of my old bumper so this is beginning to really suck.
I drive back to the dealer to try to return it and what is sitting there but the new S6 in a dirt lot just unloaded with some other stuff.
Other stuff included a new A6 4.2 with the dual thru exhaust.
Other stuff included a new A6 2.7 with the dual thru exhaust.
I take my new valance out and start lining it up to see how I screwed up and find that Clair had sent me the 02 A6 2.7 lower valance and it never had a prayer of fitting my 4.2.
Go to the "cant return special order" parts department and find that they ordered an A8 rear bumper. Their bad. No problem they take it back, and offer to express ship the 02 A6 4.2 bumper. At this point I dont think I need a new bumper skin at all.
Are you still with me? In the morning I will try to get Clair to send me the right valance for my 4.2 and it may be as simple as epoxying it into my original bumper.
If you are planning this modification, hold on because I am almost there (I think) with this adventure. Some fool had to do it. I will post results. Your mileage will definitely vary. :-)

Default The pics of the Supersprint look good...how did the exhaust install go? Comments on fit &

sound? (assume you started it up...)

Kinda comes under the heading of "...Well, other than THAT Mrs. Lincoln, what did you think of the play?"

Default The fit and finish of this system is excellent. Sound is perfect!

It will growl at high RPM but is only slightly louder at low RPM. This is high quality system (as well put together as the stock audi) with the TUV certs included. It was easy to install even with the limited clearances. Hardware was all SS and well designed. I have had the system on (under the valance) at the track and the car is definitely breathing better. How much more HP, I dont know, but seems to have more power. I would never have gone thru the trouble of permanently mounting it if it were not such a great system that compliments this 50k sedan's sound and appearance.

You wouldn't want to do a 540, would ya? Those pipes look very clean and perfect. :-)

brian 4.2: God Bless you. You have more guts than I would. I will just live viceriously (spelling?) through you.

Looking forward to a happy ending, and pics.
