My car was recently backed into by a neighbor and I have received an estimate from their insurance company. They are quoting $1200 for the repairs.

When they hit the car they caved in the rear driver side door. The insurance company is saying the only thing to replace is the actual door shell.

I have looked online for some replacement parts and believe to have found a suitable replacement. The driver side is considared the left side of the vehicle correct?

Is it a smart decision to buy the shell myself (saving $130) and have it painted by a reputable shop?
