you never realize how freaking annoying it is pushing your power windows up by hand is until you have to do it!
Followed the most excellent DIY in the tech articles section.. I was putting off doing this for the last 6 months- thinking it would be really hard- the pics looked hard and daunting! Really quite easy to do- tearing into the door is WAAAY easier than I imagined. A couple of observations.. 1. If you are hesitating doing this, 'cause you think it's hard- DO IT-having a window that closes properly- PRICELESS - Easy and easy.. 2. Learn how to undo all the quick connectors- they are pretty easy to un-do and re-install- don't try to cut corners and leave any attached. you will not be able to get the window track / panel out properly. 3. Make sure you test-fit how the door closes before putting the interior panel back on... I did not put the 4 door bolts back in exactly the same place- and my top window trim did not close flush to the body - out by 1/4" I had to re&re the door panel again to get it right- so test close the door first! If I had left it not fitting properly I have a feeling that a car wash would have washed me on the inside too! Thanks AW for being a most excellent resource. The stealership wanted almost $500 to do this job. $13 in parts and 30 minutes of my time- DONE... |
