Blown Turbo Sound that doesn't make sense....LOOONG

Yes, I've STFA, and I can't find anything that describes this one. 2002 2.7T chipped. I had a "misfire" {on cyl. 2 and 3) right after goosing it, followed immediately by what sounds like a blown turbo. Whine / drill sound. EXCEPT that it only happens on light throttle (pulling relatively gently away from a stop sign)...adding 1/2 throttle or more and the sound goes away. If I blip the throttle, I get a whine followed by a whoosh that didn't use to be there. Also, it doesn't whine everytime I do the same acceleration. I reset the misfire readout, no recurring misfire, engine runs fine, "boost actual" equals "boost setting" (2100mbar max), etc.

Is this typical of a turbo going bad, or could it be something else? (It actually sounds similar to the whine you get on a cold day on startup...the supplementary air pump, but I can't logically figure out how that pump would make this sound.) Listening under the hood, with no load, it is impossible to hear the sound, or if you do, I can't locate it. I've also wondered about tranny or torque converter...but I can't figure out why that would happen at the exact same time as the misfire.
