silly question about 2.8L engine cover

For my '00 Avant 2.8L-given all the frustrating trouble I had this year, with the P/S pump and hose, I now want to check on how that new $300+ OEM p/s hose is doing, since having the pump replaced, altogether. I have never taken off the plastic engine cover (the part with the Audi rings and V6 embossed on it). I don't want to break it, or have trouble getting it back on, once I get it off. It seems to be locked in place by what looks like four plastic bolts. Is it a question of just removing the bolts and lifting the cover? Or is the cover simply snapped into place, and one just needs to lift up, to remove it?
    Thanks
