Turbos *create* dense air. that's what boost is. They like *cool* air - whcih also happens to be slightly more dense -- because it is less prone to knock/ping.

At high altitudes turbos are ideal - they pump the air to whatever the waste gate is set to - making up for the thin air. This assumes they are sized to move the volume required.
