    and do the scheduled maintenance, including flushing that trans every 30k you'll have little or no issues with the 4.2....both the audi techs that work on my car tell me they see less 4.2's in the shop than 2.7t's, other than the trans issue when it rears its ugly head....i drove the 2.7t, 2.8, 3.0 and then the 4.2....bottom line, i wanted the v8 and those fender flares, gas prices are an issue, but to be honest, i have to drive and love to go to the track so for me it's just a necessary evil....the b6 a4 avant we just bought is a solid car and i'm starting to like it as much as i like my c5 a6....no v8, but that 3.0 is pretty torquey
