they have the same transmission, depending on year. the tiptronic is standardized by 2001's being capable of holding only "rated" 310lbft of power, and a leaky problematic oil seal. the older 2002+ models are "said" to do better. its the luck of the draw on a used car, but thats what a warranty is for. rumors say that the 2000 4.2's have the updated transmission, but no way to tell cept' to drop the tranny and look at the tramp stamp
