I am looking at a 2001 4.2 or 2.7T for a daily driver. I like the 4.2 more but am told the 2.7 is the smarter choice. I'm told the 4.2 is much more $ to maintain and the 4.2 Tiptronic is problematic. Also at my elevation of 8500' the turbo is likely quicker.

I've driven Quattros since 1985 and am aware of Audi service/maintenance costs. This car will replace my 1990 200 TQ with 300,000 miles.

Is there a general concensus about the 4.2 verses the 2.7T?
