1. ignitions switches are a known problem - but would NOT cause the low idle/stumble, but causes all sorts of other oddball problems ( non start, n o accessories, etc)
2. Have the usual tune up issues been done any time in recent memory? Plugs, air filter, fuel filter? 3. Could also be the mass airflow sensor wire. Which can be as simple as a cleaning of carbon off the wire itself and the throttle body ( idle issues) 4. Major cost issues with these cars are control arms ( sloppy steering/handling); tie rods ( ditto); tranny ( whcih might just need traditional service, search on that one); timing belt service, whcih is costly > $1000 anyway, but essential every 75k ( or risk engine destruction) On the other hand, these cars typically run forever if maintained, esepcialyl the 2.8.
