Doing the TC makes a lot of sense (at least to me) when you've got the engine out of the car for the K04s.
When I had the K04s installed, there were only a handful of stg 3 S4 Tips and 1 A6 Tip - Ming 2.7t. The S4 guys insisted that you had to do a full L10 tranny rebuild. Ming had many hard miles with a stock tranny.
So, my reasoning is replace the TC now. Replace/rebuild other stuff later if it breaks. That said, I am considering an IPT valve body. Although my L10 TC has been trouble free, I can't say that I feel that comfortable with L10's work.
Stage 3- or full stg 3 feels really good in these cars
