It was a good event compounded by lots of chances to move the 200' skidpad to any of the 17+ corners in the wet, as the track changed conditions many times during the two days.
Drivers learned that loosing it on a skidpad with the excellent quattro drive is not total insurance on a wet track with other dynamics causing lost control. We had lots of strong Audis on the track, with every model except the urq represented with several RS4's even Andre's RS6 which we diagnosed as needing its complex suspension re-serviced as the car seemed to float too much according to our other chief instructor also has an RS6 in addition to his GT3 and X50 Porsches. I drove the RS6, but did not get a chance to drive with the S6 (exhaust mods, RS6 steering wheel, but stock bars) as he left before I could give him a quick check ride. We fill our events, so if you are interested check the Potomac Chapter ACNA site early as our events fill up quickly, especially the Nov VIR event. Thanks for the great pictures even some very familiar cars were included. Dimi's car was nicely set up for the event. The upgraded slotted HP2 rotors as the car had lots of brake and handled quite well in the rain. Not sure how well they would hold up to a hot summer track! Too bad Audi does not set up the Tip to be pull back to shift up, forward for downshifts like mine and other race cars are set up. I wonder how easy it would be to reverse the switches???? Anyone reversed shift direction??? Rain keeps cars cool, and accentuates handling and car control. Great event for everyone, and the guys that spun into tirewalls at 17A know their mistakes which were unfortunate. We will check the instructor input as both impacts were avoidable, to fast in downhill phase makes weight transfer difficult, rear ends light, and adding a dose of sudden throttle lift give the tail end a newgoing into a spin. Both guys want to return and learn more. Some really nice exotic Mercedes and other nicely prepped race cars. Thanks all for the Audi representation great attitudes and being attentive in instruction and/or driving. http://printscharming.smugmug.com/gallery/5253769_JTUF6#319547972_QRnf9 |
