I haven't consulted a paper copy, but now have both the CD version (no longer supported) and the updated version that needs a DVD it's so large. The newer version is a little easier to navigate and contains fuller and more up-to-date tech service bulletins, etc., and other material. It has some annoying features, though, like having no provision for saving your VIN, and having to enter data from a series of option windows each time you load it before you can access the search function. And then it pulls up material for other models and engines that you have to scroll though to find what you're looking for. Puzzling and frustrating. There are also some curious omissions -- I reported a couple of days ago on the lack of information relating to installing the timing belt hydraulic tensioner (2.7T). Look up replacing the toothed timing belt and a generic article comes up that doesn't identify a 6 cylinder engine that has two toothed pulleys on each bank (the 2.7T has one -- go figure). After some further investigation you will eventually come to the 2.7T-specific piece. I don't think I'd ever do any work on my car by working from the laptop. The only way to go is printing up what you need (a function on both old and new versions) and working from the hard copy -- you can add notes to your heart's delight on the printup.
