Are Audi buyers/owners uniquely cheap, tight-asses?

I am starting to think so, although since I don't troll around much on other makes forums, I don't know what they do. With MB, it's easy, basically one price, MSRP, take it or leave it. With BMW, for the most part, negotiation doesn't yield much benefit except in how much OVER MSRP you're willing to pay (for some models, of course). Do Jaguar, Saab, and Volvo buyers nickel and dime over every last dollar they pay?
It just seems that a good number of people try to squeeze every last Benjamin out of the dealer before they're willing to buy a car. When you drop $40-$50k on a car, does that last $200-300 mean that much that you're willing to alienate the sales people and possibly make them a little less willing to help you in the future? I'm not saying anyone should just piss their money away and that hundreds of dollars don't mean anything (I work for the government, I am not rich), but holding out a couple months until the dealer is oozing his last drop of blood just to improve the deal by a couple hundred seems really tight-assed. No offense intended to The Art of the Deal readers out there, but is it pleasureable to squeeze every last drop out before making the deal?
Maybe I'm stupid, but I paid $500 more than I could have paid, just because I liked the guy(s) I bought the car from and they treated me with honesty and respect, and these are the kind of people I want to associate myself with. The guy who eventually offered me $500 less was a complete dick-head (actually not the salesman, but the manager) when I first showed up.
My wife was reading through AW a couple weeks ago searching for any new info on the S6 Avant, but she came away with an unexpected conclusion...she said "It seems that Audi buyers are cheap-asses! They already sell for much cheaper than comparable MB and BMWs, what more do these people want?"

Are we all that cheap, or is everyone like this?

    2001 A6 4.2 "Superfast Silver" ***SOLD*** :(
    2002 S6 Avant "Cop-Camouflage Amulet"
    2003 20AE GTI ***SOLD***

    2008 Mercedes E320 Bluetec
