Default Crap...wrong part for ABS Pump Replacement. Make sure you research better than I did when ordering

I ran by and picked up what I thought would be my ABS pump replacement. I ordered it last friday over the phone. It was a bit hectic at the track and I described the unit as ABS Pump to my trusty parts guy. He said there were several different versions and I provided the part number on the "ABS Body" as I saw it.

After looking at the bentley last night there is Bosch ABS with ESP 5.3 and version 5.7. Interesting to note even the same version overviews display different components.

So, what I received is part number 8E0-614-175-E Hydr Pump which is described in the Bentley as "Pump for Traction Control v156 with brake pressure switch" (Item 5 in this diagram). What I needed is described as "Electronic stabilzation program (ESP), hydraulic unit" (1 in diagram).

I can't believe that I had never noticed before the fact there are two distinct pumps as part of the system.

Just for reference here is a break-down of the version 5.7 system.

Default Update: Right pump on order which includes

the electronics and pump. Part number 8E0 614 111 AT

The old pump was $470 with discount. The new/correct part is $973. I'll get a discount but still ouch...just ouch

(Repeat after me...I love my car, I love my car, I love my car....)

Kris, did you call shokan or claire? I think the prices I mentioned were for the complete pump?

Default Called Clair...$973 for pump...I'm getting it for just under

$800 from my local dealer parts friend. He generally gives me the shop price on parts.

Not going to call shokan...too important of a part.

As I said in my earlier post, the $500 pump is the traction control pump. After really looking at the ESP system it is really an amazing setup...just expensive stuff!
