I just purchased the full DVD repair manual for my A6 and the s/w is asking to input the model, engine, drive and other types of info. Apparently, there are a number of models and sub-models of Audis and the only way to be sure which one you have, is to enter all of this detail. My question is, does anyone know if engine tags exist so that I can get all of this information? If I can't get all of the information from engine tags, is it possible to get all this info with a VAG? (I just ordered one)

Check the build sticker in the trunk. Engine code should be there.

Thanks for all the support and help on this one. After looking at all the great Audis on AW, I am certainly feeling like I need to post a few pics of my beast.
Can any of you tell me how to add a picture to the signature block, and how I can post some pix in a gallary, which can be linked to from within the signature block?

just a month after my 40k service my engine oil cooler crapped out. Yet another reason to be thankful I got the extended warranty
