Put in the PIAA Plasma GT-X fog light bulbs today... some thoughts....
First,
The install was a snap... 10 minutes start to finish. Looking at a couple write ups, I was planning on 1/2 hour but it was a breeze.
The look and brightness:
These bulbs are definately considerably brighter than stock. Just pointing in the garage, the lit up the back wall (from sitting outside) about 50% more. Pretty impressive.
At dusk, they looked great. The color was very close to the xenon lows and a big improvement over the yellowish stock. On the closed garage door, the color was also close.
In the pitch black though, they are definately a bit too purple for my taste. They are pretty far off the xenon color. I will most likely be looking for a different set, so any opinions or pictures would be great.
The cell phone picture makes it look a bit worse that it is, but you could still see what I mean with the color. I will have to see from further away later on.

Further down in the postings v v v is an attachment and tells you all about the GT X bulb....
Not computer savy enough to connect etc... but is does indicate in the description the blue/purple colouring - scroll down PIAA Barn.
I have the same and like them! Country roads they do light up more of the shoulder for me.

Update: Went out, parked at a store and left the lights on. Looked much nicer from a few feet away
Pretty happy with them now.. but would still consider a different bulb.

PIAA Super Plasma GT-X or just Plasma GT-X???
I have the PIAA Super Plasma (not the GT-X version) in my car right now, and I love them, but they too have slight purple color to them. At night, with the xenons on, they are more blue than the xenon. But they are a lot better than the yellowish bulbs they replaced IMHO during the day when operating as "running lights" without the low beams.
Here is a shot of my car with the fogs running (last month at a local GTG with other A6s lined up)

PIAA Super Plasma GT-X. Look better now. I just need to do the fog light mod now too, just have to
figure out which method to use (that is what has been holding me back).

Good color match for a low price: Eurolite (last longer than PIAA too!)...

I went through THREE different sets of PIAAs before I ended up going with Hella.
Started out with two PIAA Xtreme White Plus sets, quickly blown out to PIAA Plasma GT-X and then back to the stock bulbs (died very quickly, wasn't surprised... it was their time )
Now to these:

They have been working every day (running lights) and night perfectly for a good solid two months now.
If these give up I will def. try the eurolites.
