Anyone build a custom subwoofer enclosure where the OE sub box is?
I know there is an Audio forum but I wanted to ask the A6 guys directly.
My stock stereo is great and all but I do want a little more bass. I wanna toss in a small amp and a nice 8" sub in an enclosure where the stock sub box is.
Figured I would remove the trunk liner, take out the sub box and either make a mold of it & build a new fiberglass enclosure or just use the space to build an nice small MDF enclosure for an 8" sub and enjoy. I would use a line level adapter and a small mono amp with a remote gain for adjusting levels. Anyone done something similar?

Thats what I wanted to hear...
Did you do a fiberglass box, mdf/wood or a combo of the two? I've made plenty of small cubic feet sealed boxes... did you do sealed or ported? Got any pics?

HEre's what I'd recommend:
Image dynamics IDQ 10". IT's fairly cheap and probably one of the best SQ woofers money can buy. I know.......... cause I've judged and hear and lot of stuff. And you don't need a warehouse full of power to run it.
A lot of amps have high level inputs now so you don't need to buy a line level adaptor. Just plug in the signal straight from the rear speaker. Eliminates one more thing you'd need to buy. Recommend DLS CAD 11. I use both DLS and Image Dynamics in my car................

Wow on the drivers side? I was thinking about the stock passenger side sub area...
I would prefer a nice 10" with at least 150w of power but I figured thhe space would only allow an 8. I'll pull it apart sometime soon haha.

How are you liking the DLS ?!!?!??!?
I think DLS is the best kept secret. I've been playing with audio for almost 20 years now as a hobby. I absolutely luv the DLS products. I'm working with a buddy to do up his Porsche Boxster in all DLS.
