Got your LED tailights 'ere! ... I'm pulling the trigger on these...
Saw these on eBay first at $40+shipping (pair), so decided to search more. These are high-output LEDs with a 360 degree cylindrical output which should make use of the reflector (unlike the other crappy LED bulbs that are 'forward' firing only)
Found this forum article which seems to be a pretty comprehensive look at LED bulbs: http://forums.mazdaworld.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=16597&pid=353705&am p;st=0
So I continued searching and found a couple of places that sell them in the US - autolumination.com being the cheapest at $41/pair shipped, though http://www.autodirectsave.com/1156_1157_LED_BULBS.asp has the shorter-fewer LED ones at $30/pair shipped (they never got back to me on a price for the longer versions).
Anyway I'll let y'all know how they turn out.<ul><li><a href="http://autolumination.com/images/auto_bulbs/1156_pt_r.jpg">http://autolumination.com/images/auto_bulbs/1156_pt_r.jpg</a</li></ul>

Do they require inline resistors? I tried putting led taillights in my car, and they worked, but...
the computer indicated I had a bulb out..... When I found out that I needed to put resistors in line to fix it, I just put the old bulbs back.

Wow thanks for the info
and please let us know how it works out. I've always been curious as to whether my A6 can take these. Not so much for the mod value, but for the annoyance of burned out bulbs.

Yes. They will require some method...
...to overcome the "bulb out" warning. There's two ways of doing this:
1) Put a 6 ohm (or so) power resistor in parallel with the bulb to fake the load drop.
2) Remove/ground the sensor wire behind the instrument cluster.
I found a post on the latter which I may try if the new bulbs look good.
