Don't know anything about that.....
Read through some of the reviews at Tirerack and didn't see any mention of it.
Rare to see a Tire #1 at Tirerack AND Consumer Reports. Some people don't like CR and I don't like their car reviews, but their tire tests are very objective and done to a strict scientific methodology. They don't evaluate longevity/mileage but you can't expect too much from a max performance summer tire.

What size tire?
I was just in the market again and ended up with another set of PS2s. They grip like the devil, but boy do they wear quick.
As far as stiff sidewalls are concerned, you can also look for an extra load rating. I found that my 97Y rated PS2s wore a lot more evenly / performed better on the car than those with the 93Y rating.
Try calling tire rack - those guys would be more than happy to offer their input...

Quiet, stiff sidewall, long wear, cheap......... you'll never get all those qualities in one tire if
you want grip as well. Stiff sidewall almost always means more noise.
Kumhos Ecsta - cheap, stiff, heavy, loud, did I say they were cheap?
Pirelli Nero - medium priced, somewhat grippy, mixed longivity reviews
Michelin PS2 - expensive, extremely grippy, loud, somewhat short lived
Bridgestone S03 - medium priced, somewhat grippy, very stiff sidewall, loud, long lived
Toyo RA1 - expensive, very grippy, not for areas that see a lot of rain, long lived (for this type) street legal race tire used on touring cars

Michelin
The Pilot Sport II seems very soft, and don't last long. However, the sidewall seems strong. Longevity seems to differ for many folks.
I've been using Michelin tires since mid-90's without any issues around Boston. And wheels were 18" and 19".
Expensive as hell too. However, I've yet to feel I've made a bad decision on any of the purchases.

I'm on my second set
No problems with either set and I've not heard of a bubbling issue. Also, these tires do not have a stiff sidewall. They are not as soft as the T1-S but they are not as stiff as the S-03.
