Phew! After about 4 hours tonight, my 4.2 now has a power sunshade!!!
but it does not yet have power...
I swapped out the rear shelf from my former 2.7T so I can have the power rear sunshade in the new 4.2. Not an easy job. For both cars, I had to remove the rear seats (including the side bolsters) and the C/D pillar trim to get the rear shelf out. Of course, the Bentley manual was missing a couple of crucial items, but after some extra time and a flashlight, figured it all out.
Tomorrow, I have to finish fishing out the complete wire harness from the old car so I can have the button and power for the shade unit. Maybe tomorrow I'll be ready to test it out...
I know no pictures, sorry...I just started working and decided against the camers because it would have slowed me down.
One interesting thing I noticed when doing this project was that the 4.2 rear seat center position has only a lap belt compared to the rear seat of the 2.7T which has a shoulder strap for the center position...odd, eh? Well, nobody would be sitting on that hump in the back of the 4.2 anyway, right?
If anything, this was good practice getting out the C/D pillar trim so I can quickly swap out the stock stuff for the RS6 Alcantara headliner/pillar trim etc that I won off eBay ))

It cost me nothing....
...since I swapped it out from my 2.7T which I am selling. The guy buying the car did not know it had sunshades, I listed it that was on purpose.
Yes, it is possible for a 2.8, but the parts are ultra-expensive. Just the rear sunshade alone is about $1500 in parts alone because you need the shade, the motor, the control unit, and the rear shelf with the slot.
The rear doors are also pretty expensive, since you would need the door panels with the slot on the top for the shade.

Sometimes a camera just slows you down
If you don't take pictures, then you can't post any....the first step to figuring out you spend too much time on audiworld!

Nice job, however, you're nuts in a good way of course...your patience amazes me.
I think my A.D.D. woulda kicked in after the first hour and I would be driving around without back seats for a few months.
