Default The thing to curse at when your xenons auto-de-level

I guess I'm a one-trick repair pony these days. After a couple of trouble-free months my passenger-side headlight started to show 'initiative' again, auto-de-leveling itself into a useless downward angle while driving. I had cured-it-sorta on both sides before, initially just by wiggling the levelling motor connector and (when it recurred) applying a little Permatex tune-up grease around the terminals. So I opened it up again to clean off any excess grease, poke at the terminals -- anything to try to get that connection firmed up again. Next time it recurs I'll be armed with some of that good-stuff connection helper I keep losing the name of.

Anyway I took a couple pics to illustrate where to work.

The motor with connector attached, passenger side, headlight housing cover removed:

Another angle:

Lever up a little tongue in here:

The motor with the plug removed:

.. and the plug:

Now what was the name of that connector-helper stuff again, and where do I get some?

Default How do you get at that connector?

I tried but can't imagine how you could get a hand down to that connector. Or if you could, how you might disconnect it.

Any walk throughs?

Default Takes some persistence but not real hard

Have to remove the main air intake hose and associated cosmetic covers (2 screws to pull out the front dam, the rest just wiggles out), maneuver the headlight cover out of the way, then squeeze in there with a small screwdriver. There's a little tongue inside the connector housing which when lifted will release it (I know the pics are a bit obscure but look closely and you'll see). Make sure to start with the passenger side so you get the idea - on the driver's side there's a relay stack in the way which you'll have to at least partially disassemble. It's a bear to get that housing cover moved enough to get to the connector but I've done it, twice. No special techniques, just patience and loud cursing to relieve stress.

I'm now prepared with some Stabilant 22 for the next time this comes back. Good luck!
