Removing the center ash tray... Thought this would be a no-brainer STF,
but all I found was people saying, "Take it to the dealer", it's not worth messing with. Here's what happened (I'll admit, it's pretty funny, except that it happened to me...)
I store change in my ash tray, as I'm not a smoker. Well that's been fine and dandy for a long time now, until yesterday when I dropped a couple dimes and pennies under the cigarette lighter! (and not just the metal part... That's easy to get out. I need to take out the entire drawer, since the coins are stuck under the cigarette lighter)
LAME!
I can't get them out without prying on the lighter, and for the life of me, I can't get the damn ash tray out! All I want to do is pull out the ash tray and turn it up-side-down to get the stupid change out.
Any takers?

try this link
Try this link to a couple of tricks people have done. A popsickle stick with duct tape also can work. Good luck and the sig is always fun.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/355026.phtml</a

the hard part is reinstalling it................
if all you want to do, without removing the radio, is remove the ashtray, you just have to pull on it hard, but gently (yeah it does make sense), the difficult is reinstalling it. There is a roller return assembly in there that is very difficult to get in properly.
My wife did the same thing you did, and dropped coins behind there, it took me probably 2 hours to get the coins out and put the assembly back together.

Thanks for all the follow ups... Sounds like the best thing to do is fashion a tool for removing
the coins and leave the ash tray drawer alone... Sounds good to me! I already thought if a couple ghetto ways to jimmy the coins out, which oddly enough other AW'ers have done as well... Must come with the territory! :-p

As Teddy mentioned, here is the link to my steering wheel install post, which should help...
I decided to pull out the ashtray to cleanly run the wiring for the tiptronic steering wheel. However, removing the ashtray required the removal of the radio and the climate control first, per the Bentley Manual.

steering wheel install (including ashtray removal instructions)
