Default Fog jumper update...

So my latest fog jump cable has burned again. This makes 3 in the last 6 months. Each time, the wire crisps right where the two wires from the right angle fuse taps connect to each other (the blue thingy in the picture below).

For reference, I run the fogs as daytime running lamps, so average is about 1.5 to 2 hours every day, and I run with PIAA Extreme White H3 bulbs in the fog lamps. I also replaced the 15AMP fuses with 10AMP fuses because the right angle taps are rated for 10AMPS.

Are any others experiencing the same problem? I tried using the connector that comes with the wire, and more recently tried a twist-style cap similar to home electrical use.

Any suggestions???<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/375675.phtml">fog light rewire</a></li></ul>

Default I suggest you rewire your fusebox, if the taps blow every 2 months I'm glad I did it.

I think this was discussed a few months ago. It's a PITA but some things just aren't easy.

Default So you wired from 36R to 27L and 36L to 27R?

Is it that easy??? What AMP fuses are in those slots now, 10 or 15? TIA for your help!

Default take a look at my tech article on it... you can jumper it internally with real wire instead of...

using a relay if you want I suppose...

Default Well I actually didn't "wire" anything...more like altered

I rewired the back of the fuse panel and phsically moved the fog light feed wire from 36 to the open slot in 27. Then put your 15amp fuse in slot 27. Can't beat it for the OEM look. There's no need to put any fuse back into 36 because the fog wire is gone. The load wire is still there in 36 but it can just sit there and do nothing with no fuse.

Default A relay will take a lot of stress off of the fuses.

The relay will handle the load instead of the fuse if wired correctly. Depending on how you run wires the relay you can get better output out of the lights as well.

Default Exact same problem here....

my mum uses the fogs as DRLs too. I recently noticed the fuse panel cover has a burn mark, sure enough, the wiring was fried. Didn't burn the fuse for some reason.

Always solder - it is the best solution.

Default So which side is the feed???

looking at the fuse panel from the outside of the panel (where you insert the fuses), which side is the feed for fuse #36, R or L?

Lastly, I am assuming that you moved the feed from #27 back to #36 so there is no dangling wire?

TIA for your help here. I think I will give that a shot for an almost-invisible method.
