Door switch repair, or "I've just saved a bunch of money..."
Probably, familiar to some situation - you open the driver's door, but there are not lights, memory doesn't move your seat, no chime when key is left in ignition, etc. The reason - there's no signal from the switch in the door latch.

The switch is not sold separately, and the latch is ~$200 or so. So you start browsing ebay, calling junk yards hoping to get a used one... Here's the solution from a person tired wasting money on endless electric repairs: a pair of scissors and a Delmonte Sweet Corn can.

Well, of course you don't need the whole can nor the corn itself, but a metal strip approx. 5x30 mm will work. The problem with the switch is that a semicircle part of the catch is not close enough to the switch. By wraping the strip as shown below, the necessary contact is reestablished.

Hi Max_A6
I am having a problem thats similar in that the sensor thinks the door is open all the time, do you think the same solution would work? Also, could you please post a quick pic abt the location of that sensor? do i have to remove the door panel or is it in the section of the door latch thats right beside the lock?
I have been living with this problem for over 2 months and its killing me...it beeps for almost 5 min every time i turn on the car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Rami

Probably...
in your case the switch is broken or stuck cause of dirt. The access to the switch is not easy, you'll have to remove the latch itself. For this, you'll have to:
1. take off the door cover (remove2 screws, then pull it up)
2. disconnect the wires and inner door handle
3. unscrew 2 triple-square bolts that hold the latch
4. remove the plastic cover around the latch (this cover is some smart thing from audi, it prevents from water and wire hangers and other alternative unlocking devices; the weakness of the door lock cylinder is another story, though)
5. disconnect rods from the latch (actually, for outer handle it's easier to disconnect the rod from the handle itself, not the latch)
6. slide to the right the plate that holds the outer handle so you can disconnect the lock cylinder
7. remove the latch. Switch is at the bottom, you'll recognize it by 2 wires coming from it.
Assembly is in reverse.
