Optima battery part number? X-post
Well, I STFAed and couldn't find the part number for the correct Optima battery for the A6/allroad. Does anyone have that handy? The Optima site says there is no fitment, but I know I've seen people put them in...

Looks like there is no direct fitment.
I just went through the same thing a couple of weeks ago.
You would need an Orange Top, which is a Red Top with the terminals reversed and the shorter Euro rails. A quick search in the archives shows that the closest one is Model SC34R-105 (part 8003-151), but the holes don't line up and thus must be strapped down. Even though that post was for an A4, it's the same thing -- I'll explain in a second. Further, there was some info. that it might be too tall anyway. Finally, definitely a special order item unless you live by a distributor.
Let me guess. You have a 2.7T, right? The OEM battery is a Group 94R for which there are few if any aftermarket options. Most clerks will just look it up in the book and say "sorry".
But a Group 48 (A4 and A6 2.8/3.0) and Group 49 (4.2 engines) both are direct fits. The 48 is shorter, and the 49 is longer. The battery tray has 3 mounting holes, however, and the 94R fits in the middle.
The Sears DieHard International and the Interstate MTP-91 (Group 48) and MTP-93 (Group 49) all work. The DieHards are repackaged Interstates anyway, and the Optimas are made by the same company (Johnson Controls). Make sure you get the breather tube kit with it.
I went with the MTP-91 over the DieHard because it has a few more CCAs than my original battery while the Sears 48 had a few less. It fit perfectly in the first mounting hole. Bonus was that it's lighter than OEM, while the MTP-93 is heavier and overkill on the specs. Easy to find, too. About $100.
Likely a lot of Autozone/PepBoys/Kragen Group 48 batteries will fit also, especially if they're made by Johnson Controls. And for cheaper.
Finally, don't forget the radio code and to do a throttle body adaptation. You'll have to reset the one-touch windows. VAG-Com recoding should not be affected.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1735619.phtml</a

Excellent, thank you... I was just at an Interstate dealer today, if I would have known... DOH!
And yep, it's a 2.7T allroad... first battery change it has needed, but it's really dead right now...
Thank you for the writeup, that's some great battery information!
