Sounds like your pump. Mine is in for the same exact noise right now. 12K miles.

Its not your power steering pump if...

It only happens when you press on the gas. If you turn and let off the gas and let the car coast, does it still make that sound/vibration? Or only when you're on the gas?

2nd. Try turning the steering wheel a bit with the motor off and see if the noise is still there

That was tie rod ends on my 4.2

The rubber boots split on mine. I confirmed that the noise came from them by applying so lithium grease from a spray can. Noise disappeared immediately. It did remind me of a pump noise, yet it wasn't.

Thanks for the input everyone. The car has been dropped off, and I'm still waiting to hear from my mechanic. I'll definitely update this thread when I hear from him. He's an honest and quality indie mechanic that errs on the side of thoroughness, so this should be interesting.
