Default Thanks Muhammad, I just called...

my trusted local shop, and it is nice to have a baseline or "frame of reference" to compare what price he comes back with.

Default Keep in mind that this assumes buying parts from...

A good mail order parts source like GPR or The Parts Bin. Buying them from the dealer would add hundreds.

Default My mechanic quoted...

$930 for the whole shootin' match -- that's including his parts, not mine.

for sh*ts and grins, I called the Audi dealership, and they want #1350. BUT, you do get a loaner car included in that price

I think the 708 that muhammad was quoted is a great price and probably rock bottom . My indi mech in chicago quoted 850 total . Region is going to dictate some cost and I don't Know if I would want to go with the best price versus someone I trust for a Timing Belt Job, Althought I am sure Muhammad is dealing with someone he trusts.

It's over in Dunwoody. Used to be called Tune Tech, now called Winters Chapel Automotive. Wife and her family have been using them for over 20 years. Most important thing about them is I know I can trust them (that's half the battle!).

Default Replaced my '01 2.7T timing belt last weekend...

... made a post to AW regarding my experiences.

Muhammad, that is a great price for parts. From my research, you could only save a few more dollars by ordering, for example, the "ECS Tuning Ulitimate Timing Belt Kit" which includes everything on your list except the tensioner (99$) and the coolant (~20$, as well). Sounds like a good deal.

And, of course, the installation seems fair. I spent MUCH more than 4.8 hours and I have no guarantees. To me, it was worth $336 to learn a bit more about the car, though. Very interesting engineering under that hood.

Yeah, $700 is about as good as you can do on it. Another $100, $150 on labor would be fair.
