Default Questions on Lowering Springs for 2003 4.2 w/sport

In a perfect world, I'd go with coilovers, but I don't have that kind of cash. Any opinions on H&R sport springs vs. Eibach Pro-kit? H&R's list 1.75" front drop and 1.5" rear, which seems excessive compared to Eibachs. Anyone know whether that would clear stock brakes w/18" wheels and 35 offset? Also, is it true that the same H&R springs fit all A-6 quattro models, whereas Eibach has a separate set up just for 4.2? That doesn't seem to make sense. Lastly, any problems running either of these brands with stock sport shocks? If so, Konis or Bilsteins instead, and where to go for best price? Thanks.

Default I am running the H&R S6 springs - better suited to the additional weight of the 4.2.......

and stiffer/sportier then their regular A6 setup. I am also running the Grooved Bilsteins, set to one notch below original spring perch notch. Awesome setup.

As for clearance - I'm clearing 20*8.5's w/ 245/35/20's in the front, and 20*9.5's w/ 275/30/20"s in the rear.

38ET offset in the front, running a 5mm spacer, and 36ET in the rear (perfect).

Thanks. It looks like that setup goes for about $790 at AWE-Tuning. Have you had any problems with the grooved Bilsteins? I saw that Bitterman had problems with his setup from them, so I was just wondering. I assume the advantage is that they allow you some adjustability with ride height, not unlike the coilovers. Ungrooved, it looks like Pure Motorsport offers a slightly better deal at $665. It sounds like you are recommending the S6 springs either way. I take it that you decided on those over the Eibachs?

Default I decided on the H&R S6 springs because they had the stiffest spring rates = better handling fro

them. I went with the Grooved Bilsteins so I could adjust the height, albeit at the cost of pulling everything and resetting the spring perches. Bitterman went with the lowest spring perch setting which is right damn close to the drive halfshaft. I went 1 perch below original, which provides over 1/2" of clearance in the rear. Not anywhere near touching or rubbing the shaft
