Condensation on the inside of the car?
Just bought a 2000 2.7T with 42k on it and when I came outside this morning I had condensation on the fron & back glass?
All windows were closed tightly?
Any ideas?

Re: Condensation on the inside of the car?
Apparently, it's not all that unusual. My dealer attributed it to the powerful nature of the A/C units, but didn't really have a solution other than to raise temperature levels. He initially said you could close the upper vents above the dash, but that doesn't seem to make a difference, as you'll notice when from the location of the condensation build-up, which is probably just to the left and right of center windshield. If it makes you feel any better, I'm seeing it much less now. Raising the temprature just a couple of degrees does make a difference.

Somehow moisture has found it's way into the car. It needs to be dryed out properly or you'll keep
seeing the codensation. I would complain to whomever sold you the car and get them to deal with it.

Find the source...
Common causes are:
- plugged drain tube from the sunroof
- a plugged/disconnected/leaking drain tube from the air conditioner condensation drain
- <A HREF="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/423749.phtml">plugged drain holes near battery</A>
- pollen filter tray seal (thanks, 02A6CVT)
- a leak around a windshield
- bad weatherstripping (even in the trunk... check the spare tire well for water
- a small leak in the heater core or hoses.
Fix it before winter, or you may find ice forming inside the car and raining down as the car warms up.

Re: Condensation on the inside of the car?
I had 5000 S, then A100, and now A6-the first two did not have any condensation ever, this one, I have to keep A/C on even when I do not need it, say +10-+15 C just to keep it dry inside...
Another place for water leak is cabin air filter (polen filter) tray seal-poor quality, I had leak there, wet carpet on passenger side.

Re: Condensation on the inside of the car - possible source
I have about 1 inch of water in the spare tire well from time to time. I seems to build up from the rain. There looks to be drains in the bottom of the well but they don't seem to be working. I haven't checked to see if the water is still there in a while. No rain lately.

Re: Moisture in the car, windows down last time it rained.
After work yesterday, when I got in the car it smelled like a wet dog? I touched the passenger side mat and it was soaked, I mean at least 3 inches of water were in the thing? Where's the leak coming from?
I'm ready to sell and I've only had it 2 weeks!
