Only 135 miles on almost a half tank? You must have a lead foot.

Default Same thing happened to my 4.2!

It may be your water pump dying on you. How many miles do you have on the car? Mine went out after 54K miles. Have your thermostat, timing belt and tensioners changed at the same. Also check to be sure that your fan clutch is still in good operation. I was lucky, I had all of mine changed under warranty!

The car has 54K on it. It was overheating when I was driving over the weekend and it got worse. It got to the point where the AC cut off and the temperature sensor came on. Waiting on the diagnostic.

Default Mine looks the same occasionally... Heres my story

Got the car with an overheating problem at like 89k. Did the timing belt job with waterpump, thermostat and new CTS. Seemed to fix it initially but it was winter. Come warmer weather, it still crept almost to the 5th tick at low road speeds or standing still.

One summer trip to VA Beach put me into an overheating situation in traffic so I pulled off and let the car cool off for an hour or so. Cooling system would not retain coolant/water for more than 10 minutes so I did the unthinkable duty of pouring aluminum radiator stop-leak in to get me home with the intention of flushing the system asap and figuring the whole deal out.

Well, turns out I had a pinhole in the back side of the radiator and we replaced that ASAP. Car was flushed and new mixture in and seemed like it was OK but it was still slowly creeping past tick 4. So... realized the viscous couling was shot and 30 minute swap took care of that so now I'm thinking OK all is well.

WELL... the secondary fan isnt coming on and probably hadnt been coming on (viscous fan helped a ton but still not while in traffic or standing still) so this is the last thing I can think it is unless the thermo is failing again! I aM jumping the secondary fan wires to check the motor is gooD and ordering a new thermo fan switch. The car is fine at any road speed now but at very low speed or sitting still, it creeps up and I know it has to be because the secondary fan isnt kicking on at all. I;m working on my last drive here haha.
