Default Radio removal trick (using removal tools)?

I bought 2 sets of the radio removal tool, inserted them into the slots on my 2004 A6, and then what? I try pulling (of course I can only pull on 2 at a time), but the only thing that comes out are the tools, and not the radio. Is there a trick to this?

The tools I bought are supposed to be actually Audi parts, and they are stamped top L, top R, which is how I inserted them.

Make sure your bend them outward (away from the center of your head unit). Good luck!!

Default you should hear a *click*

if they release the catches inside ok, you should hear it.
when you finally get the radio out, all will become clear

It is a royal pain. And then I couldn't get the tool out of the radio when I reinstalled.

Thanks all, I will continue to "play" with it. I used the tools on my wife's new Jetta and the radio came out nice and easy. Click, click, click, click, the keys were locked into place and the radio slide out nice and easy. From the pictures on the URL of a previous response, I can tell I have the right tool, but it sure does not feel right!
