So, the source of the coolant leak is....
...aux. water pump! Any guesses on the dealer charge for that service? Just wondering if my extended warranty will pay for itself at this visit....

Mine was done a few months ago, cost was estimated at
$8-900 because of the location of the pump (guess it is a real bear to get to). My car was out of warranty but Audi covered the tab after a call to the 800#.

well Bob, welcome to the club! just picked up my car from the dealer,....
they replaced the "Electric Water Pump", which is the aux. water pump that serves the turbos.
Here is what you can expect (if you are at a dealer):
Replace water pump: 5 hours labor (per the book: $445
2 Gaskets @ $1.50: $3.00
2 gaskets @ $5.22: $10.44
1 Gallon Coolant: $18.28
1 water Pump: $166.82
plus, they broke a little plastic valve that lives somewhere in the vicinity of the pump, that added another $12.89
Total Parts and Labor: $656.43
Due to the length of time to do the job, I had to leave the car overnight. Just picked it up, but haven't had a chance to really look it over.
Good Luck.
JB

We will be seeing a LOT more of these failing...
This is the same part that they've used for almost 20 years on Audi turbo engines. They all fail IME, and catastrophically at times. On the early cars it was a five minute job to replace, and the pump is available on line for less than $100. On the 2.7T, they put the pump UNDER the intake manifold, meaning hours to replace along with misc. gaskets, etc. needed when pulling off the intake manifold.
Just another reason why you want a warranty on a 2.7T...
