4.2 motor update.
Well its been 3 weeks today and heres the latest.
The 4.2 was torn down and the heads were sent out to be examined for any possible problems. The shop called today to say they were in perfect condition. No malfunctions. They will polish and return tomorrow. This means that the engine failure was probably not due to any overrevving or valve train problems. It loooks like what it is. A simple component failure ( probably piston or rings) in the #4 cylinder. They already have a repalcement short block ready to bolt the heads onto and if it starts I should have it back by weeks end.

Funny, but just found out that Cadillac is replacing >
all the pistons in some Northstars - my father and his wife both had their leased STS engines rebuilt. Wouldn't like that too much if I owned the cars. (Yes, if you saw prior post on XLRs, he's a Caddy-adict. No cure, unfortunately. At least he ordered a new C6 Vette already.)
