Possible First Problem @ 40,000 miles - Front Suspension?
Making a u-turn today at moderate speed (no tire squeal at all - really!) and noticed a not very severe kinda light "clicking" sound which seemed to be in the right front susp - the loaded side, of course as I was turning left. Seemed to be about the same frequency as wheel or axle rotation, possibly.
Did a reverse U to the right and got no noise at all.
Suggestions would be welcome, all. I'll pull the wheel off and take a peek on the weekend, but give me some hints on what to look for, please. CV joint? Loose brake pad? Caliper?
TIA.

Could be a CV joint, if so, the boot ripped and it is now contaminated. To see if it is ripped, just turn your wheel all one way and look for a rip in the boot, you'll see grease everywhere in the wheel well too like in this picture.

Look at the outer CV boot.. chances are, if it's torn you will have thick grease all over everything
and possibly a bad joint.. It's not common for them to go bad when they have plenty of grease, but it is common for them to go bad when they are dry. Depending on what's happening, you might get away with a new boot and grease.

Can you grab on to a fender and rock the car up and down?
If its making the clicking sound wile you rock it up and down it's probably the CV boot. Had both of mine fail on my formr 2.8 and it made the clicking sound on bumps and while rocking. Good thing too because I could show it to the service writer on spot. Fixed under warranty.

Update - it wasn't the brakes, nor the tire, nor the wheel.
Even though the boots look fine, dealer says it's a bad axle (CV joint). Never had one fail before unless the boot was ripped, he says. You sure the suspension is stock, he says? Well, yeah, 'cept for H-Sport bars. Oh well, he says, that's no problem - we'll order in the part under warranty. See ya in a week.
