I am not gonna do coilovers, too much loot. So I am thinking of doing the Eibachs, I mean there's not really another option is there?
I remember reading something about H&R making springs not for the 4.2, but specific to the S6, which impliedly would work fine on the 4.2. This merely rumor or fact?

Yeah, I heard that, Ben at Achtuning mentioned that the Eibach dampers were better matched to the...
Eibach springs. Kinda makes sense there. But yeah, I heard that the grooved Bilstein's were excellent. I inquired about them, he thought it best to just go with the complete Eibach Pro-kit.
Oh yeah, he also said the only cars that he ever saw sag with either the H&R's or the Eibachs were cars that never also replaced the stock shox - and that sag was most likely attributable to worn out shox, not sagging springs.

pretty good advice....My tech here, Kenny at kentech, says he's just seen an overall
decrease in eibach quality in all VAG cars he works on..
he is almost exclisivly doing H&R

H&R
They offer 2 springs, one for the A6 2.7T/4.2, and one for the S6. Both will work on your car. The ride height will be a bit lower with the A6 kit vs. the S6 kit.
We've had very good results with the H&R springs with Bilstein shocks. Their soft ride is a good match with the Bilstein shocks.
Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Re: H&R
I would like to put some springs on my 4.2 Sport. Can i keep the stock shocks for a while and replace them when they go bad? Also, how much will the H&R sport springs lower the car past the factory sport suspension?

It isn't suggested..
If you've got a new car with low miles, you can generally use aftermarket lowering springs with the factory shocks. It's not ideal, but it will hold you over for a while. The lower, stiffer springs do wear the shocks out a bit quicker, and will necessitate sooner replacement.
The H&R springs advertise about 1.75" from the non-sport setting, which is about 0.8" or so from the stock sport I believe.
