tires: hung up on which tires to get.
I'm looking for some stickier tires than the stock Continental tires on the Sport wheels. Hung up on which tires to get. Saw some Yoko's that peaked my interest, the S-03's aren't as hot as they used to be, Goodyear seem to have a nice tire too. Any suggestions?

Al the risk of sounding like a broken record...
...I replaced the Contis on my previous 2000 A6 with Michlin Pilot Sport A/S (went with 235/40R18s) and they were fantastic. They're not inexpensive by any means ($271 each at America's Tire Co.) but they're the best tire I've ever owned. When the 4.2 blows through the OEM Contis, I'll be putting on Pilot Sport A/S on it as well.

I took a look at the Mich. Pilot Sport's...
they look pretty good. I have to chk out the A/S version to see how they are.
The ones I'm eyeing right now are the Yoko AVS ES100's, AVS Sport or the Goodyr Eagle's...surprisingly, not interested in getting Bridgestone's or Dunlops nor Pirelli's.
I've gone through 5 different kinds of tires through the years & I guess there are way too many choices now to make a good decision w/o help.
I noticed on the 19's (255/30/19), there's only the choice of Pirelli PZero's... that's too bad. Pirelli's have always been pricy.

When mine wear out I'm going with these. One of the stickiest street tires around, don't
expect long life though. Little on the noisy side; but, not real bad.<ul><li><a href="http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/high_perf/t1s.html">Sticktoitness! ;-]</a></li></ul>

I just went to 18" RS4's and put Pirelli P-Zero Nero's on ......
Size is 255/35/18. I am very pleased with them in every aspect. They are slightly stiffer than the Continental Xtremes that I replaced but that is probably because they are 35 series vs. 40 series. The Pirellis are smooth, quiet, and have excellent grip. Price is good too, I paid $655 for the set delivered from TireRack.

Just came back from a 3,000 Km road trip which included some changing driveing
conditions.
The Yokohama AVS db2 were excellent! They are very quiet while still provideing enough traction in slippery conditions and great road holding in the turns during some spireted driving in the mountains.
Highly recommended.

You will find they tramline very badly.
Great tire, but many of the new 'crete hwys around here are heavily grooved and it feels like you're riding in a train on a snakey track.
