Here goes another headlight install question
Following much searching on A6 and other Audi forums, I am dubious that the headlamps can be removed without removing the bumper. HOWEVER, the following URL shows headlamp removal WITHOUT bumper removal!?! How did they do it? I tried to remove my headlamps after loosening all appropriate screws but the &%$#*@ things are in TIGHTLY. Help!

Re: Here goes another headlight install question
i took my headlights off without removing the bumper......there's 3 screws you have to take out...and there's this lil. bar thingy on the headlight that's stuck into the car....the thingy is a white plastic piece on the left side of the right headlight and right side of the left headlight......you have to grab a flat screw driver and push the plastic piece away before you can remove the whole headlight.....if you move the headlight around you should be able to see the white plastic piece that's holding the headlights......good luck

Re: I did the same. Just use masking tape over the bumper and the corner lens to protect.
Howdy all
I want to replace the headlight lens on one of my 98 Audi A6 headlights . . . . of course the dealer wants $700 including parts . . .but I am a good mechanic and believe there is a better solution.
So . . . .where can I buy either just the lens or the assembly - if I must. I don't care if it is really Hella . . . as long as it looks the same.
I will buy the part and replace it myself . . .
Has anyone else noticed that these lenses become very cloudy for no good reason ?
Thanks !
