XM Install.................
...I chose the Pioneer GEXFM903XM add on unit over the Delphi unit because of the slimmer display profile and the ability to choose a "stealthier" location for the display. The middle visor above the rear view mirror turned out to be a great spot.

Im well aware that I sacraficed some dislpay functions (and the red LCD) over the Delphi unit. But, I was going for installability over function. It's great to fold up the visor once the XM station is dialed-in, or the unit is not in use

I also decided to go direct to the external CD changer input instead of the FM modulated option using the Blitzsafe adapter for the Symphony II unit. (this part was just released in July 03....Blitzsafe Part # XMDMPIO.1B) I can safely say it was a great choice. Sound quality is just below that of a CD. But better than most of my local FM stations. By pressing the CD button on the head unit, I can toggle between the in-dash CD changer and the XM unit. The head unit displays CD1/ Track 99 while the XM display shows station / artist / song title.

In keeping with the stealth theme, I took a chance and had the satellite antenna mounted under the rear deck just below the plastic cover for the middle child seat anchor (the anchor bolt under the cover was removed). My installer told me I shouldn't have any reception problems as long as I don't tint the rear window, and so far he has been correct. Reception has been normal (poor reception with heavy tree cover, some large bridges, tall buildings...normal stuff)

My installer had no problems fitting the Pioneer receiver into the trunk shelf where the external CD changer normally lives.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the install and the choices available on XM. One note of caution: be advised that the 2003 A6 is not pre-wired for an external changer....2002 was the last year. Make sure you purchase an extended - length Pioneer IP Bus cable if you choose to install this unit in the trunk along with a Blitzsafe adapter.

Can you change stations though the radio or do you need to touch the Pioneer unit?
I have the same Pioneer unit mounted just below my shifter so it is easy to flip between station while my arm is resting on the arm rest.
Is an interface so we could use the radio controls on the steering wheel?
