My newly painted A6

Just curious; does the car feel sluggish with the 1.8/quattro
pretty heavy with quattro and 19' rims for a 1.8 to handle IMHO. I leased a 1.8t Avant and while it's sporty handling is nice the car seriously lacked power(or maybe it's how American drive over here)

After the facelift (was it in 2001?), all A6's have the V8 grille.
So on newer A6's the S6 grille will even fit the 1.9 TDI...
BTW, nice paint job. Just remember to put on that protective film... =)

I knew that the 2002+ have facelift, but (IIRC) no one confirmed if top (bottom too?) grilles...
... fit the 2.7T, 3.0, and smaller engines. The front end of the 4.2 and S6 and RS6 are larger than the other cars, so it is not obvious that the same grilles will fit. Consider that bumpers don't always fit from year to year even on the same model; and, the hood hook for the 4.2 won't work right with the S6 grille in place.
So, I'm looking for first-hand reports about how well/easily the S6 grille(s) fit the sub-4.2-engined models.

Here goes....
The S6 grille will fitt all 2002- facelift models! But you will have to modify the lower part on the backside of the S6 grille. You have to cut away almost everything. DO NOT cut away anything at the top!!! Only cut away plastic in the lower part of the grille!

In this pic (this is the original A6 grille) I have layd on the metal piece that you have to remove on the S6 grille. It is the piece with the holes in it.

In pic 3 the metal piece is removed. You also have to remove all the plastic that is in the way!

Now you have to use glue to glue it in place....
I used something called Tec 7 (www.tec7.no).
You also have to replace the hood lock with the S6 hood lock!
Good luck!
