Okay, so I have A6 4.2 wheels on my A8, just upgrade my brakes had to share!
I've been working with www.bira.org for the first system 6 on the A8 and it is now installed! Good thing I have A6 4.2 wheels because my stock 17" A8 wheels rub on the outboard side of the caliper, where the deep dish wheels have tons of clearance!
The system is custom built brackets and hats, 996tt monobloc calipers, 993tt rotors, stainless brake lines, and I have pagid orange and stock pads for track/street use.

Looks nice, huh? Yes, I think it does. The rotor isn't that much larger than diameter of the stock rotor (it is bigger will have to dig up the size of the A8 rotor) but it is much thicker and has great ventilation.
Here's the parts supplied by bira.org:

Here's the BIRA system 6 bracket installed, the stock caliper is still hanging in the back, still hooked up.
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/bira7.JPG">
Here's the brakes installed from the pad side, they just pop right in there, the pin that goes across is part of the "Jesus clip" assembly. If it falls out (it has a cotter pin holding it in place), you could imagine what you might say!
I installed the Pagid Orange pads (track pads) because I'm going to Grattan on Friday, heck, I want to hear my brakes squeal all week long! I'll be saying to myself, "yea, they are race brakes!".
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/bira8.JPG">
Here is the back side, notice the quality of the securing nuts and brackets. Top notch quality. I also installed new stainless brake lines (required), have some for the rears too, but just too tired to get that done!
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/bira9.JPG">
Here's it with the wheel installed. Note no center cap or bolt plastic caps, just leaving them off until after Grattan, really don't want to have to take my wheels off again to take that center cap off. BTW, I'm sick and tired of taking my wheels off and on!
The stock 17" A8 wheels did not fit with the "prototype" A8 system 6, but my A6 4.2 wheels fit no problem. The problem with the stock wheels is the offset of the brackets and hats. They need to be redesigned to be closer to the strut 1/2" to 1" more. The stock wheel touches the outboard side of the caliper. This will be a design change that has to be incorporated into the next revision of the components.

And I also swapped my rear pads to pagid orange pads! All set for Grattan!
<img src="http://www.audipages.com/upgrades/bira11.JPG">
Other maintenance performed included a Mobil 1 oil change (big PITA in my opinion), but when I put the belly pan back on, I have ALL HARDWARE installed on it with the exception of one screw that I couldn't get aligned.
The dealer or any oil change place would never do that! It really needs to be in place for a track event I would imagine!
BTW, the brakes work great so far, stepped on them today and man do they work!

Excellent.
What do you mean by the "dealer wouldn't do that".....that they'd leave the belly pan off, or just skip replacing the screw??
Anyway, those fronts really look awesome, great job.
