Default I ended up buying these ATE power brake discs

I ordered from Performancemotorcars.com I am not certain if I am going to give them my recommendation. Their online service is a bit laxed in the response time. The prices, however, seem quite unbeatable and shipping prices are right on. I bought the CV Boot kit from them . A Bentley CD-ROM, and 2 ATE Power Brake discss (Pictured below) ATE has gotten some excellent praise on this site so I hope I like the set-up. My pads are fine that are on the car and there was quite a bit of debate as to whether or not I should change them in previous threads. I decided that because their pad selection was less than stellar and I would like to hear some more about pad recommendations to just get the rotors and stick with the "old" pads.

Default Not the end of the world if you don't, but you should put new pads on with the new discs...

Especially if you're going to need new pads anytime in the next year or so.

I've used ATE, Mintex, Rofren, and Ferodo pads and I'm not impressed enough with any of them, to buy again.

Next on my list is Porterfield.

Default

I had them on my A4, w/Mintex Red Box. Fine combo for me.

Default What I run on my car, and what I'd recommend to you, are two different things....

On the S6 (with StopTech calipers & slotted rotors in the front / stock set-up in back - stainless lines, high temp Motul, etc.), I use Pagid Sport Blues in the winter (all four corners) and Pagid Club Race Oranges in the summer - when I know I'll be getting in some track time. The Pagids are awesome pads, but they're expensive, the Oranges can be a little noisy, and they need to be bedded well, and maintained, to perform to a high standard.
Lots of people around here use, and are happy with, Porterfields, ...Mintex are also popular and supposedly pretty low dust. Your slotted rotors are going to eat-up pads possibly a little faster than the stockers did. Unless you're tracking your car, I'd simply go with a name brand, resonably affordable pad, that's lower dust than the stock pad (to help keep your wheels prettier between washings).

Default Not strictly true - there are theories that are documented...

a lot depends on driving style.

If you drive quickly a lot of the time, then I would suggest new discs with old pads and follow the disc break in routine mentioned in an article linked by Rally. If you drive normally ie mostly slow.. I would still go for new discs and pads together.

The most important thing to remember, is never keep your foot on the pedal after a high speed stop, release it asap and let the car roll a bit to allow air to the surface of the disc and to allow pad fumes to escape. Following this alone can save you from uneven braking.
