Installed an 02 S6 exhaust on my 01 A6 2.7T
First thing I noticed was the diameter of the pipes, this exhaust is at least 1/2 inch larger in diameter before and after the center resonator. The fit was perfect, all the hangers etc line up perfectly. I wanted to retain the factory look and pull one over on the service dept, so I'm very happy with the end result. Feels like there is less turbo lag, and a bit more throatiness up top.

well i got lucky and unlucky at the same time.
Got rear-ended, so the 02 bumper was free. Payed about 50 bucks for the lower trim piece, mounted myself. Got the S6 exhaust off of ebay for 100 bucks. Had to get it welded (80 bucks) back together and mounted for 60 bucks total.

Can you elaborate on attaching the lower piece? Is it separate from bumper cover?
How did you attach it? Does it appear that it could be retrofitted to an older bumper cover?
Thanks...
Thanks...

yes, it's black plastic, unpainted with the scallops.
It pushes into place with tabs at the top and places for screws around the bottom that secure it to the bumper. I'll post some good pics tomorrow. In the 01, the lower trim was part of the bumper and just unpainted.

Missed the bit about retrofitting.
I would say no. Not without considerable effort. I"ve still got my 01 bumper. I'll take a look at it tomorrow, but as I recall the bumper is very thin and flimsy at the bottom, so it would be hard to properly mount.
