Variation on Fog Light Mod

I've been reading various posts about folks modifying their fog lights to allow operation w/o the head lights, and have been wanting to try that out myself. I liked the fuse taps/blocks that Richard Solomon used is his "tidy" version, but couldn't figure out where he got them. I was not that excited about having a separate fuse holder dangling around the fuse box and decided to try the following.
Instead of piggybacking off fuse 27 and adding a fuse holder, I drew my power from fuse slot 41 (identified as vacant for my vehicle). The contacts for this slot are different that described by Richard - the right contact (when looking at the fuse box) is hot and there is no contact on the left. By inserting a 15A fuse and attaching the tap to the left side, I now have a fused lead to power the fog lights. I added a fuse tap to the right side of fuse 36 and used a small length of wire to connect the two taps.
The fog lights can now be turned on whenever the parking lights are on.
The parts were ~$5 at Radio Shack and the mod took about 10 minutes to complete (which included voltmeter time).
Just thought I would share another option on how to mod your fog lights... Mod at your own risk.

Looks nice, how did you install the jumper?
It appears that your jumper is pushed onto one of the installed fuses (as if it had a spade sticking out of it, I know it doesn't). How did you get the spade into the fuse?
Is it attached to the blue fuses in the picture or is it below them?
Thanks.

Are you now sending power to something not anticipated by Audi?
Is there a metal contact in the fuse holder on the non-hot side of fuse 41? If there is, do you know what you are now sending power to?
It definitely is much cleaner. Looks good!

I used the fuse taps that are described in the Tech article. You can get a 4-pack from Radio Shack for a couple of $. The tap clips over the fuse blade and provide a spade terminal above the fuse. As for the connect, that is just a fully-insulated female quick disconnect connector (also from Radio Shack) that gets crimped onto the wire.

There was no metal contact on the other side of the fuse 41 slot. No power should be going anywhere other than to the other side of fuse 36.

The "tidy" fuse taps are at Autozone.
RadioShack doesn't have em, but I found them at several Autozones I visited.
I have an extra set of them for anyone in the NYC area who wants to do the foglamp mod. I hooked up Brooklyn2.7t also.
