Who here has a lowered 4.2, what springs are you running...
and how much if at all has the car settled from initial drop.
While we're at it, what was your initial drop?
I am looking at Eibachs and H&R's, but I'm hearing all sorts of conflicting feedback, such as the H&R's are better fitted to the 2.7t, can't really support the weight of the 4.2, and therefore settle much lower then stated amount.
Anyone 4.2 owners care to shed a little light?

Saw a friend's 4.2 today with H&R springs; gap was almost zero...
Drove great, even with stock shocks.
No bouncing noticeable.
Says his front scrapes on speed-bumps, though.
Too low for me.
I'll double-check with him whether I got the brand right, and whether these are designed exactly for the 4.2 or not....

Attention: Sleestack and other 4.2 Coilover owners....
Can you tell me about part numbers and prices? Like kgnast's message above, I'm interested in slightly lower, firmer, but not too much of either. I test drove a 4.2 with H&R springs, good ride, but it was too low.
One of these H&R coilovers from Need For Speed in the UK is supposed to fit the 4.2, if I navigated the site correctly. Does one of these match what you bought?
This link first came from an older thread aboutH&R coilovers for 4.2. I also remember Sleestack's car mentioned in Finman's rave some months back.
Also, what ride height do you suggest? They're adjustable, yes? We're talking about a conservative adullt (me) who wants a bit meaner look, more subliminal than obvious (not to mention who wants to aviod scraping too much).
Any highly recommended shops in the South Bay for this? Lowest cost is not necessary, just good value for great quality.
I choose coilovers only because I don't know of springs only (or springs/shocks set) that are tuned to the 4.2. I'd love to be wrong about this.... ;^)
Thanks... naturally, answers will be immortalized in the links page. ;^)

I have H&R coil-overs on my '00 2.7T/6-spd, which is about
265 lbs LIGHTER than a 4.2. H&R in Europe sells a coil-over application for each car, but the US version is the same part # for both cars. I believe the US system is better suited for the 2.7T's weight, both 6-spd and tip.
There is plenty of suspension-adjustment, so I think a proper "gap" is easily achievable on both cars no matter what any owner prefers.
The spring rates are 400 #/in (progressive) front and 285 #/in (linear) rear. The shock units are from either Koni or Sachs. IIRC the Eibach Sport Springs are 325 #/in (linear) and 285 #/in (again, linear) rear.
On my car I consider the rear to (still) be under-dampened, but the over-all ride and handling is head-and-shoulders over my old Eibachs w/stock (non-PSK) dampers...well, almost anything else would be also.
After STaSIS completes their initial on-car testing of their new A6 coil-overs on Chris JB's car I expect to be one of the further beta-testing cars with Achtuning gathering data.
At the recent Portland track event I gave a 4.2 owner a brief "ride" and he expressed great joy at the improvement over the ride his non-sport 4.2 currently has.
Cheers,

Those spring rates are for the US 2.7T version? What about buying 4.2 ones from UK?
Would it thus make sense to order the 4.2 coilovers from europe?
