Should I just chase down the fuses that broke, or is it something worse? After looking at the manual, I'm more confused than ever. There seems to be several fuses all this stuff.

I did take the "white" car as soon as this happened!
Even with it in the 20's, I took it. Was kinda fun, actually, in a greasy tire, limited traction, gotta be careful sorta way . But back to my PROBLEM!

That's what I thought, either SEVERAL fuses. or...
something altogether different. Car runs fine. I did hardwire my V1 6 mos ago!
The possible connection is wiring at the talgate. This happened when my kid either opened or closed the liftgate last night, can't remember which. I did just get my car back from body shop the day before where they were back there working on lifgate. Hmmm? Go back to body shop?

Could be your load reduction relay
The load reduction relay is the relay that powers the bus that powers all the loads that are NOT POWERED when the ignition is placed in the "start" (engine cranking) position.
Once the key returns to the "on" position, the relay picks up (i.e. the control circuit to it is made) and powers all of these loads.
I don't know if all these loads are on this circuit, but at least on the A8 the turn signals are included.
My ignition switch failed and won't fully "spring return" to the on position from the start position.
Therefore, I just turn the key back about 1/4" after I start the car and my lights and all the load reduction relay loads work.
Most likely it's something in the circuit that picks up the load reduction relay or the relay itself is bad.
Sorry, don't have the wiring diagrams for the A6 otherwise I could help you more.

Crap!
Well, do I impose this on the bodyshop, or take it to the dealer and play dumb (should be an easy acting job)
On a side note, my doggone email addr ended with @home! No wonder I never got any email notifications! I just fixed it.
