Yup, Just got it yesterday for the wife. 21.5k miles for $24.9k, white w/ tan leather. Gorgeous car. We traded a Subie Outback, we're hooked on the AWD thing, just wanted something a little bigger and nicer. Been a VW owner for a while, just wondering if there's anything to look out for on this car- anything in particular I should know?

2.8 Common Problems....
I checked and searching doesn't bring much up so here's a quick list....(make sure your sitting down)
1) Oil leaks (common at valve cover gaskets, cam seals, cam adjuster seals...usually makes burning oil smell)
2) Fading instrument clusters
3) Heated steering wheels break
4) Radio problems
5) Squeeling Blower Motors
6) Air hoses on secondary injection pump (there is a recall on this)
7) Cup holders break
8) Window Regulator Problems
9) Temperature Sender Problems
10) Audi dealers suck :-)
1 and 2 tend to be the most common and are also quite expensive to fix.
This is a start, I'm sure others may add a few more.

Re: newbie- just bought a 99 A6 2.8 Avant. What do I need to know?
We just bought our 99.5 A6 Avant last month (49,000 miles), and love it. It is also my wife's car. A huge improvement over her Ford Explorer. Other than the Explorer, we have always owned VWs and my current BMW. Her previous car was a Jetta GLX. Just like VW's the Audi's have their quirks. Especially electrical problems. (Power windows, instrument cluster, radio). Our dealer has been great, so far. Even though the car is 6 months out of warranty, he fixed all of the problems under "sympathy warranty" that I found on the car after buying it. These included: non-functioning cruise control, buzzing speaker in driver's door, drivers door window regulator failure (under warranty), and non-functioning headlight washers. I also had him add the child seat LATCH hooks to both outboard rear seats. This is a free retrofit the Audi does for Pre-2003 cars that don't already have the LATCH hooks. It makes it MUCH easier to securely attach our child seat.
