I bought a 2000 2.7T with 61,000 miles about three months ago and decided to get the aftermarket warranty included in the finance price. I think a paid around $1300 for a "Platinum Coverage" with a 50 dollar deductible for 3yr/45,000miles. A few weeks ago I'm getting this smell when the heat is on. It smells like burning oil. I look in the engine bay and I see smoke coming out by the passenger side of the motor. I was also getting, before this, Fuel trim system too lean errors on both banks.

I just got my car back yesterday from the shop after three or four trips and this is what has been replaced so far:

2 O2 sensors
fuel filter
MAF sensor
cam adjuster gaskets (passenger and driver, 9 hour job!)

The bill for the MAF sensor and the gaskets was $1100.00. I still have almost 3 years left on my warranty. So I'm pretty sure I'll be getting more out of it then what I paid.

The car feels like it runs a lot smoother now, I don't know if its just in my head. The RPM needle looks a lot more alive too. I told the mechanic to change the oil while he was in there and he put in Mobil 1 10w30.

When all is said and done, the aftermarket warranty is a must for these expensive cars.

I bought the car at a used car dealership. The warranty they offered me is the Platinum Coverage option by Ultimate Warranty Corp http://www.uwc21.com/.

They told me this is only available thru dealers, you can't buy one online like onesource, warrantybynet etc. On their web page it says "We do not sell direct to the end consumer."
