Default Saved myself $70 with some DIY work!

The dealer quoted me $100 for a new cupholder to be installed on my dash (For those of you who remember, this has been going on a LONG time) 45 for labour and 60 for the cup holder. I said that seemed outrageous and took my car with recall work done to my garage. After I gave her a chilli (cold garage) bath and 2 coats of polish (2 hours of my time) I made it inside to try my hand at removing the broken holder. I was able to get it out in 5 minutes, no problem. Just needed 2 flat head screwdrivers to hold the settings out of the way and she slid right out. 45 dollars for that? I am not cheap, but I am also no fool, it was easy, that is a scam, not a skill. Oh well, capitaism at its worst I suppose. So I hope to get the new peice for 30 dollars from Claireparts soon. I am proud of saving this money.
I have seen many of the silver and black A6s on this site with the "smoked" tail lamps. I think this is a nice change of pace. Removing those tails is really easy and NOPI.com has a good price so I may just go that route with all my DIY money I am saving! Thanks mostly to the kind folks at AudiWorld.com. I even put up a Signature after I downloaded Photoshop from IMESH. Its not great but it took me a long time as I am none to familiar with the interface. Anyways, I will post a pic or 2 of the removed dashboard piece here, for what its worth, enjoy!

Oh yes, and what is this mess on the bottom of my car? Looks like trouble!

Hm, and one of my more expensive Mods. I got them on EBAY, from Brazil I am told, they sent airmail to me. I go to the city often so these caps get stolen all the time, but these have a rudamentary locking system, so they have stayed on for some time now! I like them!<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/45287/p1010040.jpg">

The leak that I see is on your rear end of the car the differential. That is what it looks like to me. Anyway I had a '98 a4q that leaked just like that and it was the seal around the rear half shaft, bud mine was on the drivers side. I see your's is also. I had a independant shop do it for $200 dollars the seal is only $12 but the labor was alot. The seal is a very common problem with the quattro's on the rear end. Keep a very close watch on the leak because it will leak all the gear oil out of the rear end if it is bad enough.

Default Oil Leak?

To see where the oil is comming from, try smelling it, you can tell gearbox or engine oil apart easily. If it is gearbox oil, it is probably the driveshaft seal, as pointed out, the geabox oil will go fast if you do not get it repaired soon. I guess your car is V6, it could be from the camshaft front seal or cam timing adjuster on the side of the leak, if so the oil will smell like engine oil.

Default Hm. I think it is the Diff. I thought it might be some CV boot, but it is in the rear and I only ...

that because some on the oil was thrown onto the exhaust pipe. I am not completely sure, but I think you are (sadly) right about the diff. seal. Damn, I was hoping to go a year problem free. 6 months and alas, it was not meant to be! I need : New Tires, New timing belt and new cupholder.
